Sydney Harbour has really cleaned its act up. It wasn't so long ago that it was a dirty industrial port but the tankers and container ships have been moved to other ports so Sydney Harbour has become cleaner and cleaner. Industrial discharge from the Parramatta River has also been vastly improved. So much so that we are now seeing dolphins, whales and sharks in the harbour - unheard of a decade ago. Not everyone is pleased about this. Just ask the navy diver who lost a hand and a leg to a bullshark attack in the harbour earlier this year.Sydney Harbour now has Australia's first purpose-built superyacht marina - Rozelle Bay Superyacht Marina. It was created for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and is a world-class marine facility with a superyacht shipyard, dry boat storage and ship chandlers.
There is also a superyacht berth at Campbells Cove - lying between the Opera House and Harbour Bridge on the western side of Sydney Cove and adjacent to the 5 star Park Hyatt Sydney. It has stunning views of the main harbour and is about five minutes walk from the centre of Sydney. The hotel considers superyachts berthed there as "guests" within their hotel during their stay and gives them access to all services and facilities.
This summer will see the introduction of superyacht Sydney Harbour cruises on the 125 foot (38M) "Platinum". This is the first time that a true superyacht has been made available to the general public for Sydney harbour cruises. Platinum is Australian-built and designed specifically for luxury cruising in Australia and the South Pacific. Launched in 2008, “Platinum” is without doubt the newest and most sophisticated charter vessel in Australia. It offers luxury accommodation for 10 guests in four double cabins plus a luxuriously appointed owners suite on the main deck with full ensuite and private spa. Platinum will be catering to cocktail functions for up to 100 guests or elegant formal dining for a lucky ten guests.
Bull shark, whale and dolphin sightings are not guaranteed but can't be discounted.
Check out Platinum here at Flagship Cruises
BTW bull sharks have also been spotted in the Sydney canals. Big Fish in a small canal
The Bull Shark is one of the few sharks that are potentially dangerous to people and is probably responsible for most of the shark attacks in and around Sydney Harbour.from the Australian Museum.
The species is also the only widely distibuted shark that stays in fresh water for long periods of time to feed and breed. Females sometimes give birth in river mouths were the young will live for up to 5 years.

Sydney harbour is the perfect vacation spot. Enjoy the harbour cruise & shark watching.
